State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority Tamil Nadu (SEIAA-TN) has been constituted vide Government of India in their Notification first read above to consider the Projects under Category B as scheduled in EIA Notification 2006. As per the Government order second read above (TNPCB) was acting as Secretariat for SEIAA-TN accordingly Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) was Levying a onetime processing Charges of Rupees one lakh for each Environment Clearance proposal and the amount (by applicant industries) was remitted by demand draft into Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board account.
In the Government order fifth read above the Government nominated the Department of Environment to function as the Secretariat for the SEIAA-TN and permitted SEIAA-TN to collect the revised processing fee. The processing fee is being collected from the proponent for the past 10 years as follows:

In the letter seventh read above the Member Secretary State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority has stated that a meeting was held on 13.05.2022 in the Chamber of Additional Chief Secretary to Government Environment Climate Change and Forest Department regarding Revision of processing fee in SEIAA-TN since earlier fee revision was held in the year of 2012 and among others things he has therefore requested the Government to consider the proposal to enhance the scrutiny/ processing fee and issue necessary orders for permitting SEIAA-TN to collect the enhanced scrutiny processing fee and the fee fixed for amendments/ Extension of Validity of the EC/ ToR.
After careful consideration of the proposal of the Member Secretary State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority/ Director Department of Environment and Climate Change the Government has decided to accept it and hereby ordered that the scrutiny / processing fee to be collected for processing the proposals from Project Proponent for EC/ ToR by the SEIAA-TN is enhanced and the fee fixed for amendments/ Extension of Validity of the EC/ ToR as detailed below:

The Member Secretary State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority/ Director Department of Environment and Climate Change is permitted to collect the enhanced Scrutiny / Processing Fee fixed at Para 3 above from the Project Proponent with effect from the date of issue of this order.
This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide Note #23 in efile No.1054/EC.3/2023 dated 17.11.2023.
